Pakistan Army successfully completes Operation Khyber-4

RAWALPINDI: Director General of Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Asif Ghafoor announced that Pakistan Army has successfully completed Operation Khyber-4.

In a news conference, DG ISPR said that Pakistan Army has achieved the ground objectives in Shawal and Rajgal.

He added that 52 terrorists were killed and 31 others were wounded while four of them surrendered. .

He said that the military operation was tough as two soldiers embraced martyrdom.

DG ISPR also said that scores of landmines were defused by the troops in the operation.

He said that the Operation Khyber-4 was carried out with strong and complete planning. 'Every single terrorist in Rajgal and Shawal was our target,' he said.

He went on to say that a clearance operation is currently taking place in Khyber Valley, where 91 security checkposts have been set up.

Ghafoor added that the military had consultation with NATO forces during the operation.

He said that the security forces have carried out 3300 operations under Radd-ul-Fasaad so far. He added, 'Rangers carried out 1728 operations across Punjab.'

DG ISPR stated that criminal activities in Karachi have decreased following operations in the provincial capital.

Ghafoor stated that 95 percent of displaced persons have also returned home. He further said that that Pakistan Army fully facilitated the IDPs.

Ghafoor added that that border movements in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have been made more effective. 'Over 250 cross border attacks were foiled by the forces,' he said.

He also stated that former military dictator General (retd) Pervez Musharraf served in Pakistan Army for 40 years and he gives statements regarding the defence as a political leader.

Ghafoor stated that there is no terrorist network in Pakistan. He added, "We have told the United States that indiscriminate action is being taken against terrorists in the country."

DG ISPR further said that Pakistan is the only country which fought terrorism all by itself.

DG ISPR went on to say that they are in support of FATA reforms as the people should be given their rights.

He said that India wants to declare the freedom movement of Kashmiris as a "terrorist movement".

Speaking on the Dawn Leaks inquiry, he said that it is the responsibility of the federal government to probe the matter.

He denied that Pakistan Army has anything to do with the ongoing political situation in the country.

"Time is coming when reforms will be made in state institutions. The reforms will help the government and military," he added.

He went on to say that those who burn the national flag are not Pakistanis.

"Is the nation ready to forgive them? When the people are not to forgive him so how can we?" he asked.

Pakistan Army on 16th July had announced that Operation Khyber-4 will be launched against terrorists
