SAN DIEGO: Hit zombie series The Walking Dead thrilled fans Friday with a preview of the all-out war to come between Rick's people and the malevolent Saviors in the hotly-anticipated eighth season.US network AMC debuted a five-minute trailer at San Diego Comic-Con showing Saviours leader Negan (played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan) in full swagger before cutting to all the major characters readying their weapons and troops to take him down once and for all. There was the usual feast of explosions, guns, hand-to-hand combat, and zombies with axes in their heads – along with a thrilling cameo by King Ezekiel's CGI tiger.Intriguingly, the teaser ended with an older, greyer version of Rick waking up in a hospital bed with a walking stick by his side, implying a huge leap forward in the narrative – or perhaps just a dramatic dream sequence. There were rousing speeches from Rick (Andrew Lincoln), Maggie (Lauren Cohan), and Ezekiel (Khary Payton), perhaps presaging a brighter future for the embattled apocalypse survivors."With everything we've beat, everything we've endured, everything we've risen above, everything we've become – no matter what comes next – we've won. We've already won," says Rick.Series co-creator Robert Kirkman, the man behind the comics on…

Opening batsman Tom Westley will make his Test debut against South Africa at the Oval for the third test, as England named a 13-man squad on Thursday. Gary Ballance has been ruled out of the third Test following a fracture at his left index finger, Westley has been told he will get Ballance’s spot in the side,Meanwhile, another batsman, Dawid Malan’s debut is hinging on whether England opts to play the extra batsman.Westley, has been a heavy domestic run-scorer at Essex over the past three seasons, is a right-hander and would thus break up England’s left-hand dominated lineup. The 28-year-old already boasts a first-class century against South Africa from No3 this summer, in this unbeaten 106 for the Lions at New Road. While, Malan, the Middlesex left-hander, has averaged in the mid-40s over the past four Championship seasons and impressed Bayliss when making his Twenty20 debut against South Africa in June and striking a 48-ball 78 against an attack that included two of South Africa’s Test attack in Morne Morkel and Chris Morris.Bowling-wise, England have stuck with the same players from the first two Tests although Toby Roland-Jones, the Middlesex right-armer, could make his debut in place of Mark Wood, who has…

ISLAMABAD: While the four major successes termed as ‘critical evidence’ by the Panama Joint Investigation Team (JIT) have already been proved wrong or have failed to prove anything wrong, the JIT report couldn’t come up with even a single conclusive evidence to hold Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif or any other respondent responsible for any crime or even any wrongdoing as per law. Only the honourable judges of the Panama Implementation Bench can decide the merits and demerits of the proofs and documents furnished by the JIT. As the report has been made public, its findings are being analysed regarding their correctness and relevance to the allegations.A narrative is being set that “evidence was not provided to the JIT” without specifically mentioning for which allegation among dozens of charges the evidence/ documents are not submitted. The whole JIT report seems an unimpressive but more seemingly desperate attempt to make a case against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif but legally the JIT and those who facilitated it miserably failed in the effort.Regarding 13 questions of the apex court raised in the April 20 Panama judgement, the JIT has raised doubts on the prime minister merely on basis of its imagination but at no point…

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Thursday inaugurated the much-awaited Lowari Tunnel in Chitral for traffic, taking the opportunity to lash out at his rivals, particularly the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI), while he addressed a public gathering. "These projects have been undertaken by the PML-N. The people who rule here are not the ones doing this work," he said, referring to the PTI's provincial government."They said they wanted to make a 'Naya Pakistan'. We encouraged them to make a 'Naya Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP)', but even that they have been unable to do. We are the ones building a 'Naya KP'"We will make Chitral like Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi," he assured the residents of Chitral, who he said had largely avoided voting for him the last General Election. He announced the setting up of a university for women in the area, which saw low turnout of women voters during the last election.Touching briefly on the ongoing proceedings against the Sharif family in the Panamagate case before the Supreme Court, the PM asked for his opponents to inform him of the means through which he had earned money illegally."They conducted a circus of dharnas in 2014 ... and dug a grave for democracy," he claimed,…
